We brainstormed a list of verbs and adjectives for monsters and then we made our own monsters and wrote list poems.
I did a directed drawing lesson on the Smartboard before they started drawing their monsters.
I gave them a 12x18 sheet of white construction paper that was folded in thirds. They used a black crayon to draw their monsters and then they painted them with watercolors. We cut them out and glued them on black paper. They turned out to so cute! Here are some pictures of some of the monsters and list poems.

You shared this idea last year I believe (?), and I loved it! I used neon tempera paint for the first time with my class, and the monsters were adorable. I can't wait to do it again. Thank you for the SMART Board idea!
