We said goodbye to our insect unit. Every year this is one of the favorites so it is hard to say goodbye to those pesky critters and move on. :(
We end our unit with a class favorite... Build a Bug! They use candy, marshmallows, and pretzels to build a model of an insect. Did I mention how much they LOVE this activity? Here are a few of their creations. WOW! My sweeties did such a good job.
Here are some insect journal prompts that you can use with your little sweeties if you'd like. :)
You can download them for free by clicking on the cover. DISCLAIMER: This is just a few prompts. The download doesn't reflect my TPT products. The prompts are still great to use ... this download just doesn't include any bells or whistles.
And totally unrelated.. I was interviewed by Fox News about TPT. All I could think when I was watching it was OH, MY WORD! I have become my mother!!!! :) I told the camera guy NO closeups but he didn't listen. GRRRR!!! Thanks again for supporting me on Teachers Pay Teachers. I appreciate you guys so much! You can click on the link below if you want to see the interview.

That is awesome! Way to go! I think it's great that you share your lessons and ideas - and I'd much rather buy a unit from a teacher who has taught the lessons than buy a book at a teacher store!

I loved using your insect unit ideas this spring. I've never done such an intense insect study with my kindergarteners before this year and the LOVED it too! I agree that the build a bug activity was a great way to culminate the unit. Thanks for all your great ideas and hard work!

You are such an amazing and inspiring teacher. I cannot even begin to tell you the impact you have had on me when I started my blog....and still have on me. What a blessing you are to the kiddos you teach.
ReplyDeleteThink about this: if all of your 4,391 follower teach 20 kiddos that is
87, 820 kiddos hearts you have touched...and I know you have oodles and oodles of blog stalkers! =)
I would be humbled if you came to visit me. This insect craft reminds me so much of the plant snack we just made.
I also shared a poem called "In This Room" that I would love for you to read because I know that is the kind of classroom you have.
Thank you Deanna for touching my heart and being such a gift from God to so many! =)
Bloggy blessings,
Heather
