  4. Did you do the Pete the activities at the beginning of the school year? I read both Pete books to my class, which they LOVED! Then I began the TLC type project & was thinking "what was I thinking trying to do this at the beginning of the school year!" Love the activities, but my kinders are not quite ready yet for all of them.

  5. Cathy, Yes! We did it the second week of school. I just make sure I model, model, model and keep it fun. They watch me cut and then they do it. I am creating one with them as they are doing theirs. It is great for listening skills. I included patterns in the packet if that is better for your kids. I like how they all turn out so different when the kids cut the shapes themselves.

  7. Deanna,
I used your Pete the Cat activities with my kindergartners the first week and they loved it. I did find that the graph was too hard for them, so I switched it up. I created a bar graph wall (which I'm going to change out each week)and posted the children's Petes on it. Then I projected the graph on my board and I modeled how to transfer the data. It was a HUGE success. I do have one question off the topic of Pete the Cat:
I just bought my cricut and a bunch of cartridges. I want to know if you have any cartridge favorites and what all do you use your cricut for in your classroom?

  10. Hi, I have been looking through your blog for the carpet bag post and I can not seem to find it. I really would like to implement this inn my classroom and I read somewhere that you wrote a post about them and I would really like to read it. If you can direct me to that post that would be great

  11. I had read many blog postings on "Pete the Cat", but I had no idea how big of a hit he would be! My kids loved the book sooooo much! We read the book once, sand along with the song, and then read the book a third time! I know this book will be a yearlong favourite for all of us. I am looking forward to reading "Rocking In My School Shoes" next. I downloaded your unit and can't wait to try some of the activities next week! Thanks again for all your ideas! Love your blog!
