I can't believe it is already time to start talking about First Day of school activities. Mercy! The summer flew by! If you are a mamma stuck at home in the house with littles who love the phrase, "I'm bored!" it probably crawled by! But, for me it seems like it is almost over before it even got started! Handprint puzzles are a great activity to do on the first day of school.
One of my favorite things to do on the first day of school are these handprint puzzles (Thank you to Little Giraffes website for the original idea). The puzzles serve two purposes....1) They make a great keepsake and 2) They give parents and children a reason to sit down and talk about the first day of school. You can either use paint to make these or you can use the big stamp pads from Lakeshore Learning. In the free download I included a girl/boy version of the poem as well as a Kindergarten and First Grade version. Click on the picture to download the freebie from my TPT store.

This is ADORABLE!!!! I teach first grade and would love to use it....I did notice a typo on the poem for the first graders, though....It says something about "your favorite KINDERGARTEN kid." Is there any way to correct it and re=post? Thank you so much!
ReplyDeleteWell good grief! Let me go fix it right now. That's what happens when I multi-task! :)
ReplyDeleteDeanna, thank you so much!! I love this activity & can't wait to use it with my first graders. You rock!! :)

Those are soooo neat. Thanks for sharing. Also, you're a brave brave woman to do such a potentially messy activity on the first day. :)

I can't thank you enough for sharing! I'm not quite as creative as you so you have really helped me out! :)
ReplyDeleteWe do that very same thing! Found it on Little Giraffes. Her Kissing Hand ideas are great. :)

Awesome, anymore first.day activities?
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know where to find Deanna's unit on Pete the Cat? I wanted to purchase it on Teachers Pay Teachers, but I can't locate it. Are the Pete the Cat activities included in another unit? If you know how I can purchase it, please email me. Thanks so much!

I like this! Paint on day 1 is a wee bit terrifying, but what a great keepsake. I found inovart 12 piece blank puzzles on amazon.com for $13 for 24 puzzles - woohoo!
