Snow much FUN!

We went back to school last Thursday.  WHAT??? !! It was so hard to go back so soon.  This is the shortest break I've ever had!  With only two days I wanted some quick, easy, fun things to do with my littles and this book is the perfect choice.  It is so ADORABLE!  The kids asked me to read it at least five times.
You can click on the book cover to view the book on Amazon.

This is one of the activities from my newest unit.
It is called YOU MELT MY HEART.
It is a Spin it, Graph it, Build it Math game.
The kids made their snowman based on their final data.
Notice that some of the snowmen are melted and some of them aren't.
I gave them scrap paper and had them make their own noses, eyes and mouth
so that they didn't look cookie cutter.

Sneezy the Snowman made some bad choices and when you make bad choices there are consequences!
On this recording sheet the littles illustrated and wrote about Sneezy's bad choices.

We didn't get to everything so we are going to continue with this unit next week.

You can view the unit by clicking below.  It is on sale until tomorrow night at midnight.

  6. This looks like a great activity! I went back last week too (Wednesday) and used the time to catch up on all the content work I had put aside those last two weeks leading up to Christmas with the parties, Spirit Rally, Christmas programs, etc. BUT.....I was just looking around my room thinking I need to do a cute snowman art activity and get some writing up around the room! Thanks for the great ideas!

  7. I enjoy all the products and work that you share! Your love for Jesus and his children is so evident and refreshing.

I have been using your Guided Reading 101 unit and love it. I am running out of books in my classroom collection for my higher students. What books/publishing company would you recommend for guided reading instruction?

  11. Love, love, love your stuff. I am a former K teacher, but started staying home when my first daughter was born, 7 years ago. I love to do little activities with my girls when they are off, plus I go into their classrooms to do reading and activities with them. So, your activities are perfect. I just appreciate people like you who are able to share your talents. Thanks so much!

  12. Deanna,

It's hard to imagine that after 20 years I don't have a book but I don't have Sneezy the Snowman, very cute. I can't wait to do these activities with with my kiddos. We start back Monday and I am sooooooo Thankful.

  13. So very cute! Love it and on my way to purchase! My 'January Songs' includes a song about building a snowman....sorry for the shameless promotion but I love children to have songs to sing along to things they are learning about. It all adds to the enjoyment of learning! Just wanted to share!
    Thanks!

  15. Hi Deanna - those snowmen are so stinkin' cute! I go back Monday and kiddos come on Tuesday. On another note, I wish there was a like button on the seller's forum comments. You have been such an encouragement to others on there and just wanted to say thanks. You rock my friend. :o)

  16. The snowmen are adorable. I love that you gave your students freedom with their snowman. It is so important to let them be creative and not always give them the trace and cut crafts (even though they are very cute).
