Fun and Family! Happy New Year Linky

Happy New Year!  I love this time of year.  A brand new year.  Time to reflect and make goals and brand new memories.

I'm linking up with Blog Hoppin' this week and today's topic is Fun and Family.

I LOVE talking about my family because I am so blessed to have such a sweet, loving husband and amazing kids!  We've been married since we were babies and I can honestly say he is my very best friend.
The best thing is he does laundry and cleans!!!  YES!!!!

We love spending time just hanging out with our kids.   Britni is married and lives on her own.  Taylor and her husband, Nick work for Disney and they still live at home with us while they work and go to school.  Hunter is a college freshman and he still lives at home.  {My children would live at home forever if I had my way!}  Our family rule is that we eat dinner together every night and we have Family Night at least once a week.  On Family Night we either play a board game or we watch a movie together.

We also try to take one big family trip each year.  Last year we went on a Disney Cruise.

This year we had a wedding to plan and we had a new little guy join our family so we didn't take a trip.

This is what we did on New Year's Eve.
Are we party animals or what?!?

Mexican Train Dominoes is such a fun game!  We LOVE it!!

We are always looking for new games to play so if you have some favorites I would love to hear about them!!

  1. I have never played Mexican Train Dominoes but I will have to check it out! "Sequence" is my game recommendation. It is a good mix of strategy and luck! You draw a card, and then cover it up with a chip on the game board, trying to get five in a row. You work with a partner.

    Happy New Year!

  3. I love Mexican Train Dominoes! Haven't played in forever though. We recently played a game called "Blokus" at my brother & sister-in-law's house. It was challenging but fun! It's a game board with spaces for tiles. Each player gets a combination of square blocks and the object is to use as many as possible.

    Happy New Year!

  4. We live about an hour away from Disney (east coast) and are there like all the time. We are pass holders and go quite often! One thing we have not done yet is a Disney cruise. It is something we hope to save up for this year.

    Happy New Year.

This year for our family holiday party my brother and I designed family trivia! We had a blast. We played boy vs. girl cousins.
For board games we enjoy playing "Name 5" We have teenage boys and this is a good choice for our family-
    Your family is beautiful!

  6. I was invited to a friend's house last night to ring in the new year and we played a dice game called Farkle, which was a lot of fun, and we also played Rummikub. Both games are great for a large group of people!

  9. I'm just like Mrs. Ryan! We love Mexican Train Dominoes, our kids played with us when they were young and still do in their 20's. My middle daughter discovered how to cheat, my mom had a glass top table, she would knock a domino on the floor go under the table so she could find the 12/12 to start! We know also play 5 Kings, we found it at a swap meet.

  10. Such fun pictures! My daughter is only 2 and I can't even think about when she gets older and moves out! I love that you play games and watch movies! One game that my family loves is called the Train Game. There are many different versions on Amazon. If you guys are gamers I'm sure you'd love it!

  11. Happy New Year Deanna! My family LOVES family game night. Tessa's Favorite - Imagine If . . . My "married kiddos" favorite to beat my husband and me: Cranium Dice. You have to build words, build towers, perform stunts with the dice, and add numbers while working with your partner. It's fine motor intense crazy fun. I found it at Starbucks last year. Game on!

  19. I love playing Mexican Train! It's the only time we will ever hear my grandmother swear! My 7 year old has learned how to play, too, so it's now a game for the whole family!

  20. Mexican Train is a family favorite for us as well. :) We just discovered a game called Anomia---SO MUCH FUN! This is a little nerdy, but my husband and I love the Settlers of Catan--very fun to play with 3-4 people. Telestrations is also a great one--it is a combination of Telephone and Pictionary. Happy gaming!

  21. I would LOVE to go on a Disney cruise some day... Mickey adorns my household items like glasses and pot racks :) We like to play Tripoley. It's a three part card game- high card hearts, a poker hand and Michigan. Basically, I go to "grandma's house" to see my children GAMBLING with my mother. My mother says "it's math". It is fun :) Happy 2014

  22. Sequence is our favorite. Our 3YO can even play it with a little help. It is so fun mad requires a lot of thinking skills!

We also like the card game Hearts a lot. We play a lot of games here too.
