Hey y'all! Thanks so much for taking the time to learn a little bit more about me.
I have been teaching for about 17 years and it is so rewarding. I am amazed by how much the "Littles" I teach actually teach me. Everyday in a kindergarten or first grade classroom brings new and exciting things.
I am blessed to be able to do what I truly LOVE to do.
I have a wonderful husband who is understanding about the many hours I work on the computer.
We have three beautiful children, Britni, Taylor and Hunter and two adorable grandchildren, Madison and Mackenzie.
I LOVE Sonic Cokes! It is hard to get through the day without one.
My favorite movies and quotes are:
Sweet Home Alabama
Earl: "You can't ride two horses with one ass Sugarbean."
Forrest Gump
Mrs. Gump: "You have to do the best with what God gave you."
My favorite t.v. show is Long Island Medium
My husband thinks I am all kinds of CRAZY for liking this show but I am obsessed.
I don't know why, but I LOVE it!
I also like The Mentalist. Simon Baker is a cutie patootie!
When I'm not teaching, working on a new unit or preparing for a conference I love to read.
I won't tell you what I read this summer because I will blush. (There's your hint. If you figured it out then that means that you have probably read it too). I have heard that they are making a movie about this book, although, I seriously do not know how they could! However, if they are making a movie about this unnamed book I would choose Simon to play the lead. For sure! ;)
I also love hanging out with my friends. I have made some wonderful friendships through TPT and blogging.
Last October a lot of us met in Chicago for a fun girl's weekend.
These ladies are all amazing!
My sweet friend, Erica Bohrer brought me these One Hundred Dollar bill napkins.
I won't even tell you what she told me they were for but it makes me giggle every time I think about it!
A few months later my friend and coworker, Lisa told me about TPT. I had never heard of TPT so she sent me the link and I signed up. I slowly began adding things to my store and the first year I made $300. and I was pretty happy with that. Would it help with my mounting bills? No, not really but it was a start. I kept putting in the work that I told God I would do and some of you know the rest of the story. He showed up and showed out in a BIG way.
For I am the Lord, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you,
Do not fear; I will help you. Isaiah 14:13
CBS THIS MORNING
Thank You for What You've Done
This is my sweet
baby brother, J.R. He was born when I was twelve years old and I LOVE, LOVE,
LOVE him! :)
When he was
only 13 years old he was injured in an accident. The accident left him
a quadriplegic. He can't speak and he has no control over his muscles. He
communicates with us by moving his eyes. He looks up for yes and he looks down
for no. But mostly he just Smiles and he brings joy to us every minute that we
are around him. For many years he has been pretty much stuck at home because of
no way to get around. Medical transport will pick him up and take him back and
forth to the Dr. but that's it. Until now.... because of YOU and your support
of me on Teachers Pay Teachers I was able to take part of my earnings and buy a
handicap accessible van. His
whole life has taken on new meaning. Now my mother can take him to the mall, to the
movies, to the park, all the little places that we take for granted. All
because of each and every one of you. I can't thank you enough. The smile on
his face as we took him out on his first outing is priceless. Thank you so much
for helping me change his life!

Beautiful story and God Bless!

Great story! I love the picture of your living room when you were 12. Insert hunter green shag carpet and a few macrame plant hangers and it could've been my living room when I was a kid. :)
ReplyDeleteI hope this new year brings you and your family continued blessings. Take care.
You are so wonderful Deanna and you deserve all the happiness in the world! You should be so proud of yourself... I am lucky to know you and have had your generous help xoxo thank you for everything and God bless!!!

ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your story. You are an inspiration to me!
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a blessed year!
What a beautiful and inspiring story! I am sending you many prayers for your beautiful brother and I hope you have another wonderful year! Sue :)
ReplyDeleteI have a son who has been in a wheelchair since three with Cerebral Palsy and having a van was everything. I am so thrilled for your brother! May he continue to experience such JOY!
ReplyDeleteDeanna, I sent you an email a few weeks ago, but I'm thinking I had the wrong email address. I have noticed in your blog profile that you teach kindergarten and first. I work at a small private school in NH and our grades are combined as well. However, kindergarten is by itself and 1st/2nd are combined. I would love to tell my principal about a possible K/1st combination. Do you find that it works for you?
ReplyDeleteI am inspired by you as a teacher, wife, and mother. I love my job as kindergarten teacher, however, I love first grade as well. There is a job opening at my school for the 1st/2nd next year. So I am hoping to talk with my principal about doing K/1st and putting 2nd/3rd together. I would love your input.
I hope to be at the SDE conference in April that I believe you are speaking at.
Take care and God bless.
Becky
This is such an inspiring post. I joined tpt this summer after my baby boy had tubes put in his ears and I didn't know how I was going to pay for his medical bills. I prayed the whole summer while I was creating a unit to sell and the minute I uploaded it I prayed again, thanking God for giving me the courage and creativity to post a unit and even if I only made $5.00 that I would put it toward those doctor bills. Low and behold at the end of the quarter I made the exact amount that I needed to cover the rest of the doctor bills. I don't know how else to explain it, except that it was a God thing. Congratulations on your many accomplishments! You are an inspiration to all of us!

I love everything you wrote! You're an inspiration to so many teachers. I love how evident God is on your life and how he is blessing you for that! You seem so sweet, generous and kind and your family is absolutely adorable. You are a BEAUTIFUL person too! I started TPT and my blog because of you. When I experienced my first "meanie", I thought, "I wonder what Deanna would say to me? I wonder how many "meanies" she has encountered?" I wanted to send you a message via facebook (we are friends) but I know how bombarded you must be with emails and people trying to contact you. I am even hesitating to write all this but I think it's so important for you to know how amazing, creative and talented you are!
ReplyDeleteYou don't know me, but I feel like I know you. When I see all the pics of the bloggers meeting up, I think, one day, I am gonna be in that group. God is so amazing and he wants us to think big right! Thank you for all your hard work and dedication to this field.

Hello there Mrs Jump,
ReplyDeleteOur God is supernatural and has supernatural plans, so asking for something big is what he wants us too do. He has shown u this because u believed he would. I found Tpt by mistake(maybe not) four months ago and then found out about your inspiring story. Not aware of your story but knowing I have also taught same amount of time you gave me hope that this is something God wants me to do and will help me thru all of it. Many might say this but maybe when this plan was planted in my head I was homeless, living in a hired car with four of my children. I hardly have any money no family and was an incredible tough year. BUT I was strong enough to have faith and to ask for help from God and a wonderful church. Just before New Year we have now a temporary roof over our heads. The burden of stress has been removed, my kids can be kids again. I now can see the big picture and am focusing on improving everything for my God blessed children and for what is right for them. Lest we forget... I will never forget the hard times, the sacrifices, the lessons etc they make me strong and appreciative... Look forward to learning more about u and how to strive on Tpt. I am Australian but am a fellow christian. May God continue to bless us all.
